Walking the NAMM Show

This past weekend we had the opportunity to attend the North American Music Manufacturer's Show, aka the NAMM Show in Anaheim. It was such a treat to be at a trade show as an attendee! I loved being able to attend some of the great seminars they offered. During one seminar on building your business' online presence, the presenter explained to us that sometimes, however great a stock photo is, custom shots you take yourself are a stronger marketing tool. Naturally I found myself thinking about Acratech and the photography business, as I nodded in agreement. In a later seminar focusing on the importance of video marketing I returned to this same thought: regardless of the industry, quality photographs and videos are a necessity!

It was surprising to see so many familiar faces at a music industry trade show: SKB Cases, GoPro and Sony's audio division were all vendors I recognized from the photography trade show circuit. Haas and Epilog Laser, both companies we know from the manufacturing end of things, were also present. One of the best parts of attending trade shows is the opportunity for networking, and catching up with old friends and acquaintances, while there.

After a full day of walking the show, checking out exhibits, and attending seminars, we decided to relax a bit before heading home. As Scott flipped through a free magazine that he picked up at the show, lo and behold! he ran across an article about Gary Fong and his guitar collection. While he Fong's collection certainly is impressive, we liked the video backstory about how he and his crew got the shot used in the magazine even more. Check out the video: here.

It seems like our love of photography and music may be joining hands. We'll keep you posted on more developments to come, but until then, apologies we didn't get any shots at the show - security was tight!
