Product Description

Our Acratech GP Ball head is uniquely designed to function as a ball head, a gimbal head, as well as a leveling base.   Named "Best Buy: Practical and Versitile" by DP Review April 2015

It weighs only 1 lb (454g) and has a 2 3/8 inch (60mm) base diameter.

Although it boasts all of the benefits and features of our GV2 ball head, what really sets the GP apart from the rest of our ball heads is that it was designed to be used upside down (image #2), which allows the ball to be used as a leveling base when taking stitched panoramic images. This eliminates any need to carry a separate leveling base in order to create accurate stitched panoramas, as you'll be able to pan paralell to the horizon even when using your tripod on rocky or uneven terrain.

This ball head includes a quick release clamp with either our double speed rubber knob, or a locking lever. It also includes a large bulls eye level and detent pin.

If you're unsure of whether the GP will work for your needs, please take a look at our product comparison page for more info.

  1. excellent design 5 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Feb 2016

I am immensely impressed with this ball head! It is an absolute joy to use I love the sleek look and the intelligence behind the design. I shoot on beaches quite often and the open ball design makes so much sense it is miles better than the competition. The only criticism I have to offer about this ballhead is that the main tightening of requires more force than I am used to in order to lock it down nice and snug. The panning function when you turn it upside down works excellent for leveling the ball head and doing panoramas. Another clamp is the only way to go its functions incredibly well and is so fast .... I absolutely love this ball head.

  2. GP Blallhead 4 Star Review

A well engineered ball head. Fairly light even though it has a good load carrying capacity. It has a nice feel to it and the tension knob provides nice smooth control of the camera/lens.
