A custom camera plate is designed to fit the base of your camera and will often allow access to the bottom of the battery compartment so that it doesnt need to be removed.
The lip that conforms perfectly to the angle or curve of the bottom is what prevents the slip that many find annoying with the flat generic plates.

Solid, no frills, camera plate
This is not my first Acratech camera plate. I buy them because they represent excellent quality at a "normal" price. So many companies make camera plates nowadays, and man they price them like they milled gold to make em. Not Acratech. Same quality, great fit to the camera and in the price you expect to pay. My plate for the GFX 50s fits perfect. No complaints. And one of the few available for this camera right now.
