Laptop computers dominate the PC market, but for the digital photographer their portability cuts both ways, with variant screen angles dramatically impacting the apparent brightness of an image. Even with a perfectly calibrated monitor, how can you ensure you are assessing an image from the proper angle to ensure print ready brightness?

This is exactly why we created the Monitor Viewing Angle Gauge, to ensure that even working on your laptop, what you see is what you get.

    Fit for Purpose

Purchased this for my wife, a photographer. She says it is useful but less so than its hype would lead you to believe. Probably value for money in the USA but not when you factor in the delivery costs abroad.

    Solved My Problem

Posted by Hal Gosling on 23rd Oct 2017

My new laptop was very difficult to find the sweet spot for editing images in Light Room. Found this product while researching viewing angles on the web and I ordered two; solved my problem. Post processing is now consistent even when I switch between laptops. The device is a bit wider than the thickness of the laptops and consequently will contact whatever surface the laptop is on when closing the laptop but this issue is of little consequence as the Velcro flexes to relieve pressure on the device. Overall, a great product, simple to install and use and solves a problem for photographers.

    Another great Acratech Product!

I use a laptop for photoediting, and have been frustrated with trying to find the correct angle for the monitor. Prints often turned out darker, and less saturated than what I saw (the monitor is calibrated). The gauge fixed that!

    Monitor viewing angle

Posted by Patricia on 12th Sep 2016

The only problem I have with the viewing angle is the way it attaches to the back of the computer (the top of the computer when closed). I have an Asus laptop computer and the cover is angled on the back side so when I attached the velcro, only a small section of the actual viewing angle is attached. It would have been nice if the flat part that attaches to the computer was a little bit longer so it would be more secured. Other than that it works as advertised.

Wish I'd bought this years ago

When I think of all the images I've processed at the wrong viewing angle, I cringe. No wonder I was disappointed when I saw them on the web. This gadget is easy to install and easy to use. Can't wait to get stuck into the next batch.
